Verilio, quoted by Jason Adams in Grey Ecology:

“The very recent development of real-time computer imagery only ever accentuates this effect of iconic stupefaction.” Many of these same feature are found in film medium, which not only “puts a uniform on the eyes” such that the entire audience views the work from the same perspective (as opposed to the multi-perspectival quality of theater), but enetually even destroys the early features of analogue, silent, monochromatic film, replacing these with a percetual regime whereby the digital, the sonorous and the muti-chromatic prevail. The tragedy of this “progression” is the de-struction of the imagination and interpretation that had originally given art its phenomenological character, thus allowing prosthetic perception to take over from bodily perception, rather than being in league with it.
